Job Summary: To facilitate a smooth flow of information from the files, between the Underwriters and the records department by updating files and other related tasks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Updating the marine folders and box-files from inception to finality
  • Manual premium data control
  • Updating the U/W files by separating the active and lapsed ones
  • Creating a general file of various clientele by placing all the necessary mails and correspondence
  • Filling all the policy endorsements in the respective policy binders
  • Attaching all policy mclarens reports and correspondences in the respective marine certificates
  • Liaising with ICT department during reconciliation of premiums
  • Liaising with claims department either to retrieve or furnish them with general U/W information
  • Retrieving non-motor files with occasional retrieval of motor and claim Files

Design of Nairobi City County Flag, Coat Of Arms & Slogan and Public Seal Competition

Background

 
The Nairobi City County is one of the 47 Counties in Kenya. 
However, it’s different from the other Counties as it is the Capital City of Kenya and generates & controls about 60% of the national GDP, among the top 5 cities in Africa, the commercial hub and gateway to the Eastern and Central Africa, the only City in the world with a National Park within its boundaries and host to UNHABITAT headquarters and other UN agencies and numerous multinationals. 
We have a vision “to be the City of choice in Africa, for all to invest, work and live”.
 
Consequently, in line with the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the County Government Act, No. 17 of 2012, section (4) we wish to invite the public to participate in the design of Nairobi City County flag, County coat of arms & slogan and The County Public Seal. 
The same act stipulates requirements to guide the design of the above as follows:
  • A County symbol shall not be the same as or bear a likeness or similarity to a national symbol
  • The designs should not infringe on any copyright and the contestants will indemnify Nairobi City County against any infringement.
The Nairobi City County performs various functions guided by core principles in delivery of services which include public participation, transparency, accountability and integrity. 
The functions are set out in the 4th schedule of the Constitution of Kenya.

Eligibility
 
i. Entrants must be Kenyan citizens and Nairobi City County residents are encouraged to apply
 
ii. The contest is open to individuals and organized teams but not any corporate entities
 
iii. Entrants must be eighteen years and above
 
Entry guidelines
 
i. The entrants are required to download an entry form from the website of Nairobi City County, www.nairobi.go.ke/competition or get a hard copy from the Public Relations Office, City Hall, First Floor, Room 118
 
ii. The entry form must be submitted with a soft copy of the design in 2 CD-ROMs either in JPEG or PDF format.
 
iii. Entrants must not submit more than one entry in each category
 
iv. There is no fee to enter the contest
 
v. Please note that once a winner has been selected and awarded, Nairobi City County shall retain copyright and all intellectual property rights.
 
Prizes
 
The winner in each category will be announced through the press and website. 
Moreover the winners in various categories will be awarded as follows:
 
a) Nairobi City County Coat of arms & slogan: winner cash prize of Kshs 100,000 and a certificate, first run up ksh. 75,000 and a certificate and second run up Kshs 50,000 and a certificate.
 
b) Nairobi City County flag: winner cash prize of Kshs 100,000 and a certificate, first run up ksh. 75,000 and a certificate and second run up Kshs 50,000 and a certificate.
 
c) Nairobi City County Public seal: Winner cash prize of kshs 75,000 and certificate, first run up Kshs 50,000 and certificate and second run up kshs 25,000 and a certificate.
 
The entry form and the design in 2 CD-ROMs enclosed in plain sealed envelopes marked “ DESIGN OF NAIROBI CITY COUNTY FLAG, COAT OF ARMS & SLOGAN, AND PUBLIC SEAL” should be deposited in the tender box at the Procurement Department, City Hall Annex, 2nd Floor on or before 3rd May , 2013 at 12.00 noon.

Senior Business Systems Planning Developer (Business Intelligence)

Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Systems Planning, the role holder will be in charge of Development and 3rd line support of Safaricom Management Information Systems (Data Ware-house and Business intelligence (BI)) and all reporting and analytics systems. 
This will include, but not limited to, Churn management tools, Fraud management and Revenue assurance systems, Data Mining Systems, Campaign Management Systems and Dealer Incentive Management systems; Work with other departments within the company to identify requirements and develop solutions (database design, workflows, user/data interfaces) ;Configure and/or customize BI and analytics systems to meet business requirements using various database and software tools; Assist in presentations of system functionality to new users and departments ;Enhance and create user and system documentation as needed.

The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:

Testing, Troubleshooting and 3rd line Support
  • Create test plans, test data sets and perform automated testing to ensure all components of the developed systems meet specifications;
  • Work directly with the IT support personnel and teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations;
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents;
  • Formalize test plans and implement troubleshooting procedures;
  • Upgrading products and applying patches as necessary;
  • Maintaining and modifying reports/queries on an as-needed basis ;
  • Managing and supporting the security implementation ;
  • Scheduling batch jobs with the IT operations staff;

  • Interact with clients to gather and refine requirements.
Software Design and Programming
  • Design and development of front-end tier(s), middle tier(s), and /or back-end database tier(s) for business applications. Capturing of business applications information needs and mapping of the same to the software and /or database components;
  • Performs data modeling to analyze and specify data structures within an application system;
  • Coding of all ETL and analytics processes used within the BI systems;
  • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that reporting needs can be effectively developed and implemented.
Research and Development
  • Research and provide input on design approach, performance and base functionality improvements for various procedures and applications;
  • Generation of ideas to improve efficiency in software and application services offered to the business, and/or generate revenue for business;
  • Participation and membership in various technical fora for the purpose of increasing the collective knowledge base of the team.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or technical related field;
  • Oracle Certified Developer;
  • Certification in RDBMS;
  • 3 years development experience with development tools e.g. Java ;
  • 3 years development experience with low level programming C++, C.;
  • 3 years’ experience RDMS preferably Oracle, MS SQL Server;

Product Manager – Video & Collaboration

  • 5 years’ experience in product management;
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for products development, marketing and commercialization. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems;
  • Experience in ICT projects management;
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods;
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction;
  • Ability to function effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to participate in team planning and decision-making;

Main purpose of the job

The Web Content and Sosial Media Editor will be a focal point for the content of the Centre’s website and associated social media functions and maintenance of all aspects of the Centre’s internet and intranet sites.

Report to: Sales Manager 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifying and developing suitable  Corporate, SOHO,SMEs Prospects to approach for selling Telecommunication Products, Solutions and Services
  • Carrying out sales tasks associated with the Sales & Marketing department
  • With the approval of the Sales Manager; Negotiating rates for proposed product or solutions
  • Creating and building relationships  and database with prospects with focus on Corporate, SOHO and SMEs
  • Ensure Applications form/Agreement is signed by the customer; Follow up payments of customers after the invoice has been raised
  • Liaising with other departments on a quick and smooth implementation and commissioning of the projects.
  • To achieve prescribed level of sales and performance in key areas and maintain a pipeline of opportunities.
  • To work and collaborate with internal departments, pre and post sales, to ensure that all aspect of the sales are achieved effectively and on time.
  • To proactively establish relationships with partners, key business organizations, SOHO and SMEs and other bodies where required.
  • To provide regular feedback from the marketplace on the effectiveness and suitability of the products and services and new product requirements.
  • To prepare and submit weekly reports as requested by sales management.
  • To attend sales and training meetings arranged by the company and Sales Management as appropriate.
  • To provide a positive and professional image of the role and the company both to customers and colleagues at all times.
  • Identifying and developing suitable prospects to approach for selling company Products, Solutions and Services
  • Negotiating rates for proposed product or solutions.
  • Building a reputable client database
  • Following up with the Project Team on a quick and smooth implementation after receiving an LPO.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1 year selling experience.  
  • Telecommunications sales is an added advantage
  • Aggressive and has passion to progress in a sales career
  • Ability to multi task and deliver on other tasks as may be assigned by the superiors from time to time, with minimum supervision.
  • Of good temperament, right attitude, innovative and responsive in carrying out their duties. 
Required Competencies:
  • Excellent communications skills and strong negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) and Kiswahili (spoken)
  • Ability to grasp the fundamentals of Sales and manage the cycle
  • Ability to quickly grasp concepts, work under pressure, deliver to meet deadlines
  • Must be self‐driven, motivated, enthusiastic, positive and pleasant individual who is result oriented
  • Ability to interface and communicate professionally and politely at all levels within a corporate environment
  • Must have emotional maturity to enable them to work with customers who may sometimes be upset
  • Must pay attention to detail to ensure all aspects of customer satisfaction are covered
  • Must be a team player and can demonstrate the ability to work with the various departments within the company to achieve the shared Vision
  • Ability to accurately report sales figures, trends and customer requirements
  • Ability to assume responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of work product
  • Ability to manage staff as well as facilitate change
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays as in when needed
