Smallholder Poultry Agribusiness Development Program (SPADE)

General Information

Purpose

The job holder will be responsible for developing and implementing poultry ( chicken) feed production and feeding strategies to meet the objectives of SPADE’s (Smallholder Poultry Agribusiness Development Program). 
Provide leadership and guidance on implementation of poultry feed formulation, production, feeding and overall husbandry best practices with the project. 
The Poultry Production Business Advisor will work closely with Poultry Producers Business Groups PPBGs, local stakeholders, and sub-contractors, and management. 
S/he will be responsible for timely and effective implementation of project activities and achievement of a portion of the project’s goals.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Draw up poultry ( chicken) feed formulation, production and feeding strategies and activities to support SPADE program objectives;
  • Implement, monitor and supervise SPADE feed production and feeding activities in accordance with project objectives.
  • Establish, promote and strengthen PPBGs poultry feed production, storage and utilization structures;
  • Ensure adequate chicken feed inputs are available in PPBGs;
  • Advise PPBGs on best practices for feed formulation , storage and feeding of poultry;
  • Capacity building of PPBGs to improve their overall feeding practices to increase production and incomes ;
  • Plan or execute animal ( poultry) nutrition programs;
  • Gathers and disseminates information on best practices on poultry production
  • Build value added partnerships with relevant stakeholders in for the express benefit of the project liaison in feed production related issues
  • Ensure the project activities and implementation strategy are aligned and not in conflict with government policies ( livestock ) especially poultry development policy
  • Understand, respect and promote TechnoServe’s values, vision, and strategy in the implementation of assigned duties.
Requirements
  • Degree in animal production especially poultry production and nutrition , animal health science or equivalent;
  • At least 3 years experience in field of poultry production and nutrition ;
  • Membership of Animal Production Society of Kenya will an added advantage
  • Experience working with farmer group programs preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills a must;
  • Ability to develop well-written, cohesive analyses and reports;
  • Track record of building strong client and stakeholder relationships;
  • Ability to generate innovative solutions in work situations;
  • Proven ability and experience working with and managing teams will be an added advantage;
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili required;
  • Willing to be based in Kisumu. Western and/or Nyanza work experience with communities is an added advantage.
Group Governance & Training Coordinator (SPADE)

Purpose

The Training Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the SPADE Kenya Training Program and for providing governance and group dynamics expertise and support SPADE’s (Smallholder Poultry Agribusiness Development Program) developmental activities. 
S/he will be responsible for timely and effective implementation of project activities and achievement of a portion of the project’s goals. .

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Overseeing country-level training program implementation
  • Coordination and facilitation of TTT and TTT Refresher
  • Coordination and delivery of select trainings
  • Observe field- based trainings and provide coaching/feedback to trainers
  • Assisting in identifying local training partners
  • Build training programs to support capacity building with regards to governance thin the project PPBGs;
  • Promote sound governance practices with PPBGs clients;
  • Understand, respect and promote TechnoServe’s values, vision, and strategy in the implementation of assigned duties.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in organizational development, relevant field with at least of 3 years experience in managing a training program. Minimum of three years field and technical experience in the development sector, governance and group dynamics , training in Kenya is required;
  • Experience facilitating/delivering training curricula to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience developing and producing training curricula.
  • Experience working with group governance issues, other business related training and farmer group programs is an added advantage;
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills a must;
  • Ability to develop well-written, cohesive analyses and reports;
  • Willing to be based in Kisumu. Western and or Nyanza Kenyan work experience with communities is an added advantage.

Our client is a mid-size security firm in Kenya, with nationwide presence and with expertise to provide the most reliable security services in Kenya, and is currently looking for a Training and recruitment Instructor, who will be responsible in developing and facilitating implementation of the company security personnel training strategy.

The Job role:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  •  Participate in vetting recruits before training
  • Offer a thorough basic practical and theory security training that adheres to the company’s approved syllabus including disciplinary guidelines on dressing, hygiene, general turn out and security procedures.
  • Assess candidates ability to work independently, use  common sense and their intelligent quotient and Recommending trainees on their individual suitability for specified deployment
  • Developing a time table that accommodates seminars, lectures, drills and demonstrations
  • Conducting the pass out parade for successful graduates
  • Perform inspection and on job training for guards and supervisors
  • Preparation security induction training for beginners, follow up courses for those who don’t complete basic training and refresher courses for serving guards
  • Ensure all guards produce all required documents and sign all necessary employment forms
  • Developing and maintain training information database on each individual e.g. attendance roster, training, performance and talents
  • Conducting employee training needs assessments in consultation with departments / sections managers and managers and supervisors and provision of effective solutions to the identified needs
  • Preparation of a comprehensive annual, monthly and weekly training and development plan and budget
  • Coordinating implementation of established technical and professional courses provided courses provided by training institutions
  • Organize security personnel appraisals linking performance to agreed scheduled targets to provide counseling for staff
  • Monitoring effectiveness of training by carrying out post training performance and evaluation programs to assess impact on employee operations
  • Developing security personnel training manuals’, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials for use
  • Developing and maintaining skills inventory database of the security personnel
  • Appraise disciplinary trainee’s progress
  • Provide a pool of trained personnel for emergencies, stand bys, new orders e.t.c.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the line manager
Knowledge & skills:
  • Must be keen and detail-oriented
  • Possess good planning and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Honest and upholds integrity
Experience/Qualifications
  • Age 35-45
  • Proven training experience preferably in disciplinary forces
  • National Youth Service Training is REQUIRED
  • Hold a similar post in a security firm
  • Education qualification  in security management

Education for Marginalized Children in Kenya (EMACK) is an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MOE) made possible by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF).

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Principal Co-op Bank Management Centre the Lecturer in charge of Learning Resources
and e-Learning programmes, will be responsible for the Supervision and the performance of the Resource Centre (library)
Conduct Bank wide trainings as shall be assigned by the Principal, Develop e-content learning materials and manage the day to day running of the e-Learning programmes in the Bank.
Main Duties:
Manage the operations of the Learning Resource Centre (Library)
Weekly checks of accuracy of the shelving of Resource Centre Books and the periodicals.

Assist in carrying out and analysing aptitude test results
Strategic Planning for the roll-out and growth of e-Learning programmes in liaison with the Principal Co-op Bank Management Centre
Manage partnerships with Training Institutions and Providers for the elearning programmes.
Recommend the appropriate state-of-the-art and cost effective Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
Identifying specific ways of fitting eLearning into the Blended Learning Strategy
Implementation of the e-learning programmes in conjunction with the ICT department and in liaison with the Principal-CBMC
Long-term resources Planning for the eLearning programmes
Job specification:
The ideal candidate will be required to possess the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
A Bachelor of Education Degree in Business Studies or Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Science
Post graduate degree or diploma in business or management will be an added advantage
Experience in the Administration of Electronic Learning Programmes
Proficiency in all basic Ms Office applications
Some web design (preferably Macro-media Dream weaver) or HTML experience
Proven hands on experience in Curriculum Development or Content Development for large organizations
Working experience in managing Learning Resource Centres Library
Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar position. Those with Banking experience will have an added advantage
