Regional Health Advisor (Position based in Nairobi)
We are currently looking for a Regional Compliance Manager for the East Africa Regional Office based in
Nairobi with regular travel to the field.
The purpose of this role is to provide support to Save the Children
country offices in the East Africa region for the design and delivery of
high-quality health programmes, as part of our Ambition 2015 strategy
and newborn and child survival campaign.
This new post will play a critical role in raising new resources to support health programmes, based on our
theory of change and the three pillars of child rights programming.
- Demonstrable commitment to health and development and to the right of the poorest to quality health and health services, with strong experience of health programming and advocacy activities in low-income countries.
- Internationally-recognised qualification in public health, ideally at higher degree level.
- Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and management of health projects, including successful high-value proposal development, grant management, donor liaison and report-writing.
- Strong expertise and understanding of key issues in the field of public health with a particular emphasis on maternal, newborn and child health and health systems strengthening.
- Demonstrated experience of developing effective working relationships with senior stakeholders from government agencies, international organisations, donors, NGO, academics and opinion-leaders, including successful advocacy and influencing.
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English and strong inter-personal and advisory skills, including the demonstrated ability to guide and influence colleagues and others face to face and from a distance.
- Understanding of and commitment to Save the Children’s mission, values and programming approaches, including policy and advocacy
- Direct experience working in East Africa whether at regional or country level.
- Demonstrated experience of emergency preparedness, planning and response.
- Willingness/ability to travel at short notice, occasionally to remote and insecure locations.
- Ability to work successfully with minimal administrative support and string IT skills including Microsoft
Office, content management systems and web-based communication.
