Mwangaza Rehabilitation Centre Job in Kenya - Director

Mwangaza Rehabilitation Centre, Katani, Nairobi
Rehabilitation Centre is a project of Development Kenya Action (DKA) & eRko Support Office. Mwangaza is a drug rehabilitation centre for boys who having been living on the streets and have drug and substance abuse problems.

The residential rehabilitation programme has capacity for 30 clients every six months. Clients in the programme are provided with follow-up support into education, vocational training or apprenticeships.

The role of the Director is to provide overall leadership to staff and strategic direction to the work of Mwangaza Rehabilitation Centre. The Director is supported by two Heads of Department and with them will ensure smooth co-ordination of the day-to-day affairs at the Centre.
The Director will work with the Board and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that will ensure a sustainable organisation offering high quality of service to clients.
DKA & eRko is seeking applications from candidates who meet the following requirements:
  • A Bachelors level qualification in social sciences or related subject (Essential)
  • A Diploma (or equivalent) qualification in Counselling or Social Work (Essential).
  • 4 years experience in a senior managerial role in a therapeutic care, health, social or community development sector (Essential)
  • Plus 2 years post-qualifying professional practice experience in counselling/social work (Essential)

Executive Director Job In Kenya

The African Council for Distance Education (ACDE), a continental unifying body of African Open and Distance Learning Universities and the African Union’s lead implementing agency for distance education, wishes to fill the position of Executive Director that will fall vacant on 1st January 2012.

The Executive Director is the Chief Executive of ACDE who reports to the ACDE Executive Board.

He/she will be based at the ACDE Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

The Executive Director shall be responsible for:

•The administration and management of the Secretariat, including the preparation of budget and financial as well as personnel management reports;
•Providing strategic vision and leadership for ACDE as guided by its Strategic Plan;

1. Assistant Country Director - Programmes

Summary of the Role

The role of the ACD-P is to ensure the effective implementation of the programme approach and the successful overall management of GOAL’s urban and emergency programming.

This will involve supporting the integration of the different elements of the current GOAL Kenya programme to meet the agreed programmatic criteria.

1. Strategic programme development

2. Donor liaison and proposal development
  • Identify and cultivate new donor opportunities in urban and emergency programmes and drive proposal development
  • Liaise with donors to keep abreast of relevant funding opportunities
3. Technical support
  • Provide technical support with health, HIV, child protection & partnerships to technical focal points and ensure that partners are getting the technical support that they require from GOAL Kenya
  • Liaise with the GOAL technical team, including the HIV, Nutrition, Child Protection and Survey Advisors
  • Identify any technical gaps on the GOAL Kenya team and facilitate recruitment, or training and capacity building of existing staff, to meet the programme’s technical requirements
4. Operations
  • Work with the country team to ensure efficient and transparent implementation of urban programming
  • Facilitate dialogue between Programme Managers, finance, and logistics to assist with on time and on budget delivery of programmes
5. M&E Support
  • In conjunction with the CD, deliver a comprehensive M&E strategy for GOAL Kenya and ensure compliance with GOAL Dublin frameworks and donor guidelines
  • Along with the Programme Development Manager and M&E officer, facilitate internal and external evaluations of the urban and emergency programmes
  • Work with the Grants Manager and Programme Development Unit to ensure timely reporting
6. Mainstreaming
  • Oversee the internal and external mainstreaming of priority issues like gender, HIV, child protection & environment and ensure that the respective documented plans and toolkits are in place
  • Along with the Programme Development Manager and M&E officer, facilitate internal and external evaluations of the urban and emergency programmes
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in public health, nutrition, community development, child protection or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years international experience with an international NGO or UN organization
  • 5+ years’ experience managing child welfare-related projects within an International NGO in a developing country

2. WASH Officer (Engineer) – Daadab

General Description of the Role:

The WASH engineer will assist WASH Manager to develop and implement the Emergency water, sanitation and hygiene promotion element of the programme including planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of activities, outputs and objectives of the WASH project.

The WASH engineer will be expected to ensure timeliness of implementation and that each element of the programme addresses WASH priorities of the beneficiaries.

Qualifications:
  • Essential: managerial skills; resourceful and adaptable work approach; creative and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Water engineering, Hydrology or environmental health
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in WASH project design and implementation in refugee emergency settings.
  • Experience of working with NGOs in insecure areas and working through partners.
  • Proven initiative in developing new programmes.
3. WASH Engineer (Technician) - Marsabit

General Description of the Role:

The WASH engineer technician will assist WASH/Field Manager to develop and implement the Emergency water, sanitation element of the programme including planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of activities, outputs and objectives of the WASH project.

The WASH engineer technician will be expected to ensure timeliness of implementation and that each element of the programme addresses WASH priorities of the beneficiaries.

Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Water engineering, Hydrology or environmental health
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in WASH project design and implementation in emergencies

4. Finance Administrator - Marsabit

Job Summary:

To provide administrative and financial support to the Emergency Project in Marsabit

The Finance and Administrator will be responsible for assisting in all administrative and financial systems reporting to the WASH/Field Manager. The position demands a good understanding of accounting and administration systems and processes.

Qualifications:
  • A Diploma in Business Administration/ Accounting qualification.
  • 3 years’ experience in administrative and accounting duties
  • Good command of English
  • Good understanding of administrative procedures and systems
