Nurse Job in Kenya - World Concern Development Organization

World Concern Development organization, a Relief and Development Organization, wishes to recruit qualified and competent person for the following position to be based in Garissa.

Registered Community Nurse

Contract (six months)

The overall objective of this position is to undertake the health care responses in the HADA project and be part of the team that will oversee the design, evaluation and implementation of the health programs.

This includes working closely with government officials, relevant bodies and NGOs and preparation of relevant reports and providing information necessary to direct the program and report to donors.


Major Responsibilities:
  • Make activities plan for implementation from the master plan in the proposal.
  • To work with the Public Health Nurse to determine the nursing aspect of community health i.e. Health message to NCH mothers and reproductive health activities.
  • Make plans to carry out outreach activities i.e. mobile clinics, MCH care activities, Hygiene (personal) message and environmental hygiene.
  • Work in collaboration with the Clinical Officer to plan and carry out curative services alongside the MOH staff.
  • Work closely with the Nutritionist to carry out nutrition improvement programs among mothers and under five children in the project area.
  • Participate in the Monitoring and Evaluation activities in primary health care project and write and submit project activity reports on monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Attend meetings related to primary health care work in the project area as agreed with the Project Manager.
Qualification and Experience
  • 2-3 years experience in similar position preferably in a relief setting in hardship area like North Eastern Kenya.
  • KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of C+ and a Higher Diploma in community nursing.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written), accompanied with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Competence in the use of MS Office and Strong capacity building and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.
  • Clearly demonstrated ability to undertake health care activities within the project area.
